Our new facility provides state-of-the-art technology in a healing, spa-like environment with an emphasis on quality, access and compassion. Our inpatient unit is supported by a robust team of hospitalists. We pride ourselves on our low emergency department wait times and ability to give patients access to a doctor quickly.
We are seeking one Full Time Internal Medicine Physician to join our Summit team. In addition to the energetic, collegial work environment, we enjoy the support of our community and great quality of life– a mild maritime climate, an abundance of outdoor recreation, arts, culture; and easy access to Olympia, Seattle, and Portland.
The Internal Medicine position is primarily an outpatient based practice. The IM physician will provide outpatient based primary care as well as consults for the organizations family medicine primary care providers. In addition, the IM physician will be asked to rotate consulting coverage for the inpatient unit, rounding with the NP Hospitalist and inpatient team daily approximately 7 mornings per month. The IM physician may also elect to offer procedures, stress testing, or other IM related outpatient services.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
*1.Internal Medicine outpatient primary care for complex patients. Identifies, evaluates and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care. Reviews patient charts to ensure that co-morbidities are appropriately documented. Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
*2.Internal Medicine outpatient consultations. Performs intakes and evaluations, discusses goals with patients, implements care plans, prescribes medications, educates patients about risks and benefits, and monitors progress. Works closely with other members of patient care team in the formulation of the total care plan for patients.
*3.Participate in consultative inpatient physician coverage with other SPMC physicians in support of NP-Hospitalist attending.
*4.Assists in the development of clinical protocols; assists with the plan of action to facilitate problem resolution; charts actions appropriately.
*5.Meets or exceeds quality care standards, achieves clinical excellence, contributes to quality improvement, and strives for high patient satisfaction. Independently plans work and develops procedures to accomplish goals. Participates actively in the quality improvement system, complies with all appropriate Washington State Department of Health standards, National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects.
6.Maintains appropriate, accurate and timely records using a computerized record keeping and coding system.
7.Maintains professional skills through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Participates in interdisciplinary meetings; stays abreast of trends and best practices; develops and implements new and revised methods, practices, policies, techniques and procedures. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws.
8.Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Successful completion of an approved ACGME/AOA accredited residency program with fulfillment or qualification of board certification within the requirements of the applicant’s Board.
- One year of experience in a clinical setting, preferred
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
1.Active and unrestricted MD or DO license in the state of Washington
2.Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine
4.Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
